Alvaro Morata played 26 matches in Serie A for Como last season
Madrid (AFP) - Veteran striker Alvaro Morata on Friday joined Spanish second-division outfit Leganes on loan from Italian side Como.
The 33-year-old who captained Spain to the 2024 European Championship title led the line for Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and AC Milan across his career.
Morata played 26 matches in Serie A last season as Como qualified for the Champions League, a competition he won twice with Real Madrid.
Leganes said on their website they would have “an option to buy (Morata) at the end of the season”.
Leganes finished 16th in the second division last season and are owned by American investment group Blue Crow, who also owns Le Havre in France.
